A small car park near Tower Bridge will be replaced by a four storey terrace of six houses under plans submitted by Pope Street SE1 Ltd.
AR Urbanism have designed a contemporary terrace using a traditional palette of soft cream brick, alongside a grey zinc or aluminium mansard roof and pop-out windows.
The car park use has already ended on site some time ago, with prep work having begun for a previous scheme of five houses approved over two years ago. A further application for six houses was then rejected, and is now at appeal.
The immediate area has seen applications for both new build apartments and offices in recent years, with the heartlands of urban Southwark pushing further into neighbouring Bermondsey. These three bed houses will therefore be somewhat unusual in the local context.
Despite being so central, the scheme proposes five parking spaces for the houses.
