Buxton Building Contractors have lodged plans with Croydon Council for a 22 flat scheme in a new five storey building at 91-93 Canterbury Road, in North West Croydon.
The scheme will replace a car repair building on the south side of the road, which also backs onto Canterbury Road Recreation Ground, a small park dominated by a large football pitch.
The building, designed by Iconic Architecture, involves creating an internal courtyard between two buildings, both with large balconies onto both the courtyard elevation, for access, and out onto their respective elevations over the road or park.
In total the new building will contain seven one bed flats, 14 two bed apartments and a single three bed flat. On the ground floor will be a 125.6sqm offices and 265.2sqm nursery or other non-residential institution.
Of the 22 flats a small majority – 12 are proposed for the private market, while 4 will be socially rented and 6 for intermediate tenures which can include shared ownership and intermediate rent, among other schemes.
