Wandsworth Council has submitted plans to build a new four-storey apartment block containing 21 social rented flats in Putney Vale, a small settlement within Wimbledon Common behind the Asda supermarket.

The building will replace an existing youth centre called Stag House which fronts Stag Lane, retaining the mixed-use games and playground areas associated with the former youth centre.

Mae Architects is behind the designs, which will be a red brick building with balconies and external entrance walkways, giving the flats dual aspect. 14 of the flats will have one bedroom, with the remaining seven having two beds.

The scheme is similar in height to surrounding apartment blocks and will offer views over Richardsons Evans Memorial Playing Fields, part of the wider Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park green area, to future residents.
