Plans in: House Conversion into Tiny Flats in Tooting

Plans have been submitted by Mr Omar Sheriff for the conversion of 300 Franciscan Road from a single family terraced house into five flats. The designs, drawn up by arc Design and Construction, show five one bedroom flats.

Each of the flats will contain a bedroom, bathroom and living room. The sizes of the flats however are particularly small, and fall far under guidelines. Indeed the flats range from just 21.7sqm to 27sqm, smaller than even most studio flats and below the 30sqm threshold most mortgage companies adopt, suggesting the flats will be for the rental market. Indeed the planning documents suggest the flats will be for ‘young city workers’.

The application argues the location is not suitable for a family house due to the town centre environment. Bike storage, if approved, will be in a timber shed in the back garden. Thus far the application has been marked as invalid as the £1540 fee has yet to be paid.
