Tower Hamlets Council have submitted plans to build 24 affordable homes in a seven storey block next to Jubilee Gardens on Jubilee Street in Stepney. The scheme has been designed by Bell Phillips Architects, who also designed another scheme for the council we featured on this week.
The new building will replace a car park at the entrance to the park, and the new scheme will be car-free except for two disability spaces. Five one bed flats will be provided, along with eight each of two and three bed flats, and even three four plus bedroom apartments. All will be for social rent tenure.
The design is for a light grey / off-white coloured brick facade with brick detailing above each of the windows. Recessed balconies will be provided with black metal handrails.
