Lambeth College and Carillion and jointly lodged plans for a new skills college, 184 room hotel and 232 apartments in a 26 storey tower, on their Vauxhall Campus on the borders of Nine Elms and South Lambeth.
The apartments in the scheme will be largely for the private rented sector, with the other 19 apartments at discount market rent averaging 50% of the local market rates.
Various affordable offers were considered in the viability assessment, and a private sale scheme would have led to a large affordable housing offer.
The designs, by 3D Reid, have a lightweight panel design for the tower, with a more solid appearance for the lower rise elements of the residential scheme.
The hotel utilises a chequerboard pattern, while the skills centre has a more industrial look, with large expressed floor plates between glass facades.
The site is relatively far from the nearest train station for a tower, although the new Nine Elms station will only be about nine minutes walk away when completed and Stockwell is only about twelve minutes away currently.
