Lambeth Submits Plans for Homes in Oval

Proposals for 31 new homes have been submitted in Oval. Homes for Lambeth, an offshoot of Lambeth Council, is behind the proposals, which have been designed by Stockwool.

The site occupies around half of the land of the former Patmos care home at 53 Elliot Road, also fronting Cancell Road in SW9 not far from Myatts Fields.

The application contains a mix of tenures and unit sizes, with 18 of the homes planned for the private market – which could income private sale or rent – all of which will be apartments. Two flats and five houses are proposed for social rent, with a further six flats for intermediate tenure which could mean shared ownership or discounted rent.

Three blocks are proposed, with the tallest apartment block being five storeys in height. The flats will benefit from communal amenity space, and the development will be car free as is common practice in new build developments in inner city locations.

The other half of the site is owned by Excelcare, who purchased the land from the council in 2016. On this land they plan to develop a care home, which is not included in this application.
