Plans to demolish a row of retail units along Woodgrange Road in Forest Gate have been submitted to Newham Council. The development will contain 66 apartments, alongside 1,233sqm retail space.
The developer is London Iron Works, who have utilised the services of dRMM as architects. dRMM’s design consists of a block that steps up in height from neighbouring Victorian buildings to its maximum height on the corner of the block closest to the station.
The lower floors will be in beige brick, with a turquoise cladding on the top two floors. Curved recessed balconies will be provided on the corner of the building, with a mix of Juliet and recessed balconies elsewhere.
There are currently 5 houses on site, these will be replaced by 23 one bed flats, 23 two bed flats and 20 three bed flats. All are proposed to be private units at this stage.
Two cores are proposed, with the retail space taking up the entire ground floor level. Some first floor flats will have large terraces at the rear over the retail space.
