A prior approval application has been submitted to Kingston Council for the conversion of an office and warehouse into ten residential dwellings. The offices will be converted into four one bedroom flats, while the warehouse will be converted into four houses and a disused house converted into two flats – one two-bed, one one-bed apartment.

The site, at 15 Lime Grove, is an unusual application in that it is combined various permitted development schemes into a single application. These include storage to residential, which has tighter rules than office to residential and is less common to see utilised. It appears as if the house was converted to business usage, then a warehouse added in the late 19th or early 20th century, followed by the office block in the 1960s.

Plans are in for the conversion of Princess Mews on Horace Road in Kingston from offices to residential apartments.

The plans have been submitted under the permitted development scheme, meaning there will be no affordable housing or infrastructure payments to the council.

In total the developer, Aureus Property, is proposing five apartments, designed by Scurr Architects.

Permitted development schemes often feature a large number of small flats, but this scheme has done the opposite with each unit having four bedrooms!

The flats will effectively be Mews Houses in a gated development, which excludes the neighbouring three storey office block.
