Plans have been lodged with Hounslow Council to convert a three storey office block at 10 Windmill Lane near Chiswick Common into 22 flats. 19 of the flats will be studios, the other three will have a single bedroom.

The developer of the site is Lamington UK, who are a short term apartment rental provider. It’s not clear if their intention with this site is to operate serviced apartments here, or if these will be for the traditional residential markets.

Plans have been submitted to construct a two storey extension to 512-518 Chiswick High Road, also known as Mortlake House, to create an additional eight flats.

The current block houses a Halfords on the ground floor, with five upper floors of flats. It’s not clear if the extension will be on the top of the existing building, bringing it up to eight storeys, or if it will be to the front which is currently a car park for the shop, or to the side or rear, as no documents have been uploaded with the application.

The current building is similar in height to its neighbours, but makes poor use of the plot and is located significantly further from the road that its neighbours, detracting from the streetscape.

The application has been submitted by agent Rapleys, no applicant details are available. The last time a flat sold in Mortlake House it fetched £277,000 in early 2010 for a two bed, although this seems to be below the going rate for the building.

Plans have been submitted to convert New Horizons Court buildings 1 to 4 from offices into 268 flats. New Horizons Court is located on Shield Drive just off the Great West Road near Syon Park station between Isleworth and Brentford.

The plans propose converting the four office buildings closest to the Great West Road of the total of six in the office development. Across the four buildings there will be 93 studios, 129 one bed flat and 46 two bed flats, if plans are approved. Hounslow Council have very limited scope for objection under permitted development rules, limited to transport, flooding and similar dangers or if the previous use was not as claimed.

The area of the site is large – 1.5 hectares – and the current buildings are quite substantial post-modern office blocks. Among the current and former tenants is Sky television.The plans, submitted by Sackville UKPEC4 Brentford (GP) Ltd will see some of the flats only face onto a small internal courtyard, although the majority will have views of the outside.

Flat sizes are somewhat small, but not as small as many permitted development schemes. One one floor plan, drawn up by Spratley Studios, studios range from 29 to 39sqm, one beds from 40sqm to 54sqm and two bed flats from 55 to 66sqm. Permitted Development means that standard room size regulations do not have to be followed.

An Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Opinion has been submitted to Hounslow Council for a scheme to replace the existing Morrisons in Brentford. The new development will re-provide the supermarket, with a 5,000 sqm food store envisaged, but also include 220 apartments above in buildings up to 12 storeys in height.

The scoping application has been submitted on behalf of Essential Living, who exclusively build for-rent apartments, and who are currently converting the Archway Tower into flats.

As this is a scoping application we don’t yet have any renders of the project, although we do know the project is called High Street East. Car parking, presumably mainly for the store, will be provided in the basement. The overall site measures 0.63 hectares and is currently around half store, half car park.

An Environmental Impact Assessment scoping application has been submitted for a cafe, gym and 300 apartments in Brentford at two sites.

Plans for Albany Riverside, on the High Street, has been submitted by developer London Green. They plan to submit two separate applications, one for the Albany Riverside site, and also one for a side in Half Acre where the Watermans Arts Centre will be relocated, alongside flats on both sites.

Albany Riverside contains Max Factor House office block and the Watermans Arts Centre, while Half Acre contains the former 13 storey Police Station.

The Albany Riverside will contain 200 of the 300 flats, and also contain the gym and cafe. It will reach up to 10 storeys, and also allow walking alongside the Thames.

The Half Acre site will contain 100 apartments in buildings up to six storeys, as well as including the Arts Centre, a cinema, theatre, studios and eatery.

Sadly there’s no renders with the planning application as it’s only scoping at this page, although the developers website did provide a single image.

Plans have been lodged to convert Trinity Square in Hounslow into flats. The application has been submitted under the prior approval scheme, meaning all flats will be private.

It also means the applicant only has to pay £80 for their application, and the council can only object on grounds on traffic, flood risk and on the basis of other dangers.

The site already benefits from planning for 228 flats from an application in 2015. The new application proposes 205 studio flats, and 27 one bed flats. Hounslow has been a popular location for office-to-residential conversions.

Many of the flats will have windows only onto an internal courtyard, that currently has a glazed ceiling. This isn’t unprecedented, a scheme from Galliard in the area also contained a similar layout.

The developer is Investream, the agent Brunel Planning and the architect Alan Camp Architects. The building is five storeys tall, and houses offices for GE Capital among others.
