Redrow have submitted plans to Hillingdon Council to build 104 flats in buildings on Tavistock Road, West Drayton.

The proposals are a revisal of existing plans for the former Comag and Padcroft Works. Boon Brown are behind the designs which see house-style and flatted-block style buildings on one section of the former industrial site.

The buildings top out at seven storeys and are very similar to previously approved plans, with internal layout and basement changes being the largest differences. All 104 flats are proposed for the private market, with 23 one bed flats, 71 two bed apartments and 10 larger three bed units.

Plans have been submitted by Elstree Property Management to replace a pair of uninspiring semi-detached houses on the corner of Milburn Drive and Falling Lane in Yiewsley with a new three-storey apartment block containing eight flats.

The new block will have two main floors then a top floor within a gable roof, the ground floor will be lowered slightly below road level so as not to appear taller than neighbouring properties.

Overall the design is quite traditional, although uses a palette of materials to reflect the suburban housing estate where it is located, so as to appear is if it might have been constructed at the same time and by the same developer as neighbouring properties.

The Mars Pension Fund have been submitted to convert Armstrong House, a seven storey office block above the Pavilions shopping centre in the heart of Uxbridge, into 47 apartments.

The flats will be converted under the permitted development scheme, meaning that the council can only object on certain grounds such as dangers or transport, and will not receive any infrastructure payments from the conversion.

Sometimes permitted development schemes see very small units created, such as blocks of entirely studio flats. This isn’t the case here, with sixteen four bedroom flats proposed! In addition there will be 23 three bed units, five two bed apartments and two one bed flats. It’s not clear yet whether the units will be marketed at families or sharers, but both would benefit from the advantages of living above a shopping centre with a Costa coffee shop literally underneath the building, a pharmacy opposite and just about every kind of shop on their doorstep.

The Pavillions was made up of three similar blocks to Armstrong House, it appears from Streetview as though two of these three already underwent conversion back in 2008 as Nova Point from dominion housing association.
