Six Flats Planned by Bexley Station

Appleby Architects have drawn up plans for six flats in two buildings next to Bexley station. The two buildings will replace office block Parker House on Station Approach.

Two one-bed and four two-bed apartments will be provided if the application from Chamberlain Bexley Limited is approved.

No car parking is proposed given the transit-friendly location, although spaces for bicycles will be provided. The development plot sits next to another development across Tanyard Lane at Tanyard House.

Plans for 66 Flats in Office Converson in Foots Cray

Plans have been submitted to Bexley Council to convert Heather House on Maidstone Road in Foots Cray into 66 apartments.

The plans have been submitted by Sidmaid LLC under the permitted development route, meaning the council has only a small number of reasons they can reject the application.

The plans are for private flats over four floors of the office block, with 16 two bed flats, 49 one bed apartments and a single studio flat.

Around half of the existing car park will be assigned to residents, giving more than one space per flat. Cycle spaces are also proposed. The plans have been drawn up by JDW Architects.

Here’s a roundup of six small new build projects from across London that have made it into the planning system’s public realm within the past week. Four of them include demolishing existing residential properties for suburban densification, an increasingly common way of delivering homes in London from small developers.

4 Storey, 9 Flat & 4 Retail Unit Scheme in South Wembley

Plans in to demolish a mixed retail and residential building on Ealing Road and replace it with a significantly larger mixed use scheme containing four retail units – one of quite a large size taking up the entire first floor – with nine flats above.

13 Flat Replacement for Croydon Butchers

Plans in to replace a butchers shop on Frith Road with a new four storey building with 11 two bed and 2 one bed flats, plus a commercial unit on the ground floor.

8 Flats in 3 Storey Building on Birkbeck Road, Sidcup

Two semi-detached houses, currently organised as four flats, are proposed for demolition to make way for eight new build flats in Sidcup. We particularly liked the copper-green roof in this project, which is also featured in the photo at the top of the post.

5 Flats Replacing House in Shortlands

Outline plans submitted to replace a house on Cumberland Road in the borough of Bromley with a new building containing five flats.

5 Intermediate-Tenure Flats in New Cross Backlands Scheme

Plans in to demolish an unused single storey backlands building on Hatcham Park Mews in New Cross Gate and replace it with a three-storey building providing five flats, all of which will be for the intermediate market – perhaps for shared ownership or intermediate rent.

9 Apartment House-Replacement in Belmont

Plans have been lodged with Sutton Council to demolish a house and build a new nine flat replacement, eight of which will be two bedrooms and the final flat will have three beds, ensuring the site still provides family-sized accomodation.
