Plans in: Warehouse to Studio Flat Conversions in Stamford Hill

Triplerose has lodged two applications to convert the ground floors of Units 1 & 2 of the Ravensdale Industrial Estate on Timberwharf Road into 13 and 10 studio flats, respectively.

The application submitted two similar applications for the first floor of these units in August, which we previously covered. One of these two applications has had permission granted, the other is awaiting final decision according to Hackney’s planning portal.

Interestingly the total area of the floor space in these buildings is larger than allowed for conversion under the storage to residential permitted development scheme however the agent, Boyer, has used a planning precedent for the division of a building into parts to gain permission for the conversion of the first floor. They clearly hope to convert the whole building by using this precedent – it will be interesting to see if Hackney accepts this logic or not when it effectively converts more floor space than was intended to be allowable, and if this creates a wider precedent for future conversions of larger warehouses into flats via multiple applications.
