Plans in: Flats above Shops in Peckham

Plans have been lodged to demolish the upper floors of 156-158 Rye Lane in Peckham, and replace them with a new four storey extension – making the building five storeys in all – with nine flats provided.

156 currently contains the Afro Caribbean Food Store Hax International, while 158 contains The Makeover hair and nails salon. These retail units will be unaffected, while the existing uppers which are two and two-and-a-half storeys will be replaced under plans by LOBO Investments UK Ltd.

The new building will contain two studios, four one bed flats and three two bed apartments, which will be accessed from Warwick Court rather than Rye Lane, in order to preserve the retail floorspace of the shops below. It will be clad in dark golden brown and yellow stock brick, similar to the original. The proposed buildings will be in similar style to neighbouring 160, but slightly taller. Sadly only drawing, rather than renders, have been submitted.
