Aria Properties have submitted plans for a residential development in Southall of 302 apartments in a scheme that will rise up to 22 storeys. The proposed building will be a courtyard perimeter block that will split into two taller building on the 9th floor, the shorter of which will peak on the 14th floor.
The plans are to replace the Malgavita Works 0.61-hectare site on 25-27 Merrick Road. This is located close to Southall station, which will be on Crossrail, to the east and south of the tracks. Today the site hosts numerous businesses including several car businesses such as Zaki Motors and Universal Car Sources, as well as Creative Curtains and Qik Portable Cabins. It’s located immediately north of the distinctive Sunrise House building.
The scheme has been designed by Barton Willmore. The site already has permission for an 18 storey scheme, and neighbouring sites along the tracks also have permission for tall buildings – immediately to the east is the Middlesex Business Centre with permission for a 22 storey scheme, while closer to the station Southall Tower is at permission for another 22 storey building.
The scheme is currently proposing that all of the 302 residential units will be for the private market, with these units ranging from 29 studios to 30 three-bed apartments, with 104 one-bed flats and 139 two-bed dwellings to complete the mix. 538sqm assembly and leisure space is also proposed.
